2. Sinfoniekonzert des Philharmonischen Orchester Würzburg

Under the motto "Distant Sounds," the Würzburg Philharmonic Orchestra invites you to a concert of works by Antonín Dvořák and Josef Suk on November 14 and 15. Under the musical direction of General Music Director Enrico Calesso, the young Würzburg cellist Richard Verna will be the soloist in Dvořák's legendary Cello Concerto.




At the second symphony concert at the Hochschule für Musik, Richard Verna, who in November 2017 was the youngest winner of the Kulturförderpreis of the City of Würzburg, will take on this task. The 18-year-old musician already made his debut as a soloist alongside the Philharmonic Orchestra two years ago with Edward Elgar's Cello Concerto. Maestro Enrico Calesso will be on the podium.

Roberta and Richard Verna come from a musical family and received their first instrumental lessons at the age of 5. Only a short time later they received additional support at the Pre-College of the University of Music in Würzburg. They quickly reaped numerous awards at national and international competitions.

Since 2017, they have been the youngest winners of the Würzburg Cultural Sponsorship Award to date. Sven Witzemann has been the congenial accompanist of the two siblings for several years.

The evening will feature works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Maurice Ravel and Sergei Rachmaninov, as well as cello sonatas by Johannes Brahms and Zoltán Kodály.
